An ingredient not meant for eating got Johnsonville sausage recalled in 8 states
Johnsonville made a not-food-in-your-food recall of a smoked sausage product last week after a customer found something not meant to be chewed and digested.
According to the USDA-Food Safety Inspection Service recall notice, someone who had been chowing down on Johnsonville’s Beddar with Cheddar Smoked Sausage let the Wisconsin company know about “the product containing very thin strands of black plastic fibers.”

So, Johnsonville yanked the lot with “Best By 07/11/2023 C35” on the 14-ounce packages and “EST. 34224” in the USDA mark of inspection. The lot went to stores in Texas, Missouri, Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, North Dakota and Oklahoma.
If you have these packs of sausage, you can return them to the store for a full refund. If you have questions about the recall, reach out to Johnsonville’s Amanda Fritsch at 888-556-2728 or anachtweyfritsch@johnsonville.com.
