Attention, Costco shoppers — here’s what you need to know about a chocolate bar recall
Chocolate and peanut butter bars have been recalled from Costco stores. Here’s a quick way to know if this affects you:
Have you bought 15-packs of SimplyProtein Crispy Bars? No? You’re good.
Did you buy them at a Costco in California; Texas; Washington, D.C.; Arkansas; Kansas; Maryland; Oklahoma, Pennsylvania or Virginia? No? You’re good.
Did you answer “yes” to both of the above questions, and there’s the possibility the bars might be eaten by someone with a tree nut allergy? No, there’s not a possibility? You’re good. Have a nice day.
For those who answered “yes” to all of the above, the problem is in the five Peanut Butter Chocolate Crispy Bars in the pack of 15. They might have traces of cashews.
As Wellness Natural’s FDA-posted recall notice states, “People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashew run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.”
The bars are from lot No. TN3005A with a best by date of 05 Jan 2024 and Lot TN3005A. That’s on the individual bar wrapper. The outside carton of 15 will have lot No. TN3005. The other 10 protein bars in the pack are not affected by this recall.
Wellness says it received a consumer complaint and decided the lot might have “trace levels of undeclared cashew. The cause of the contamination is being investigated.”
If you have these bars and need to return them, do so at the Costco of purchase. If you have questions, email Wellness at contact@wellnessnaturalinc.com, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Eastern time.
