1.2 million candles sold exclusively at Walmart recalled after cracked glass and a fire

Candles should make your home smell lovely, not smell burnt from burned items. That’s why Soap Star Candle Prayer Candle recalled 1,210,000 Mainstays three-wick candles sold only at Walmart.

The problem, as described in the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice, is “The candle wicks can burn too close to the side of the container, causing the glass to break, posing fire and laceration hazards.”

Soap Star knows about 12 times that the glass container cracked after the candle burned too close, “resulting in one report of a minor cut and multiple reports of damage to nearby items.

“The firm has received one report of a fire.”
