A possible ‘life-threatening’ error got Texas popcorn recalled in Florida, 7 other states

Packaging so inadequate it created a four-way food allergy danger caused a recall of all flavors of Avery’s Savory Popcorn shipped to eight states.

What Avery’s calls “Gourmet Popcorn” came in bags of various sizes. What the bags had in common is their labeling didn’t say anything about allergens soy, milk, peanuts or tree nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans, cashews) in the popcorn.

“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to specific type of allergen...run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” the Avery’s-written, FDA-posted recall notice states.
