Some of these thermal laminators have caught fire. So, over 516,000 have been recalled

Among the things laminators shouldn’t do is start a fire in your home or office. That’s why 3M has recalled 519,860 Scotch TL1302 Thermal Laminators in the United States and Canada.

The exact problem as stated in the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall alert: “A safety feature can malfunction if the laminator overheats, posing a fire hazard.”

And, the alert says, 3M knows of nine fires, three of which caused property damage.

This covers model Nos. TL1302, TL1302VP, TL1302EF, and TL1302KIT, sold by Walmart, Costco, Staples, Amazon and various other retailers from April 2014 through this past October.

3M wants customers to register online for a refund as well as check out directions for tossing the laminator.
