About 67,000 blenders got recalled. Consumers reported the blades detached while in use

A blender and juice extractor should help create morning juice, smoothies, and daiquiris, not create concern about detached blades cracking the blender and maybe cutting. That’s why Conair recalled about 67,500 Cuisinart Compact Blender & Juice Extractor Combos, Model CBJ-450 in the United States and Canada.

The problem, as stated in the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall notice: “The nut holding the blender blade assembly can loosen and detach from the base when in use, posing a laceration hazard if a consumer comes in contact with a loose blade.”

The notice says Conair “has received three reports of incidents in which the blender blade detached during use. In one of the incidents, the blade perforated the blender container.” No one has been injured.

Conair’s solution to the problem involves customers contacting the company for a replacement blade assembly and using the accompanying instructions to install it. Conair believes no tools are needed.

For the replacement blade assembly or to answer any questions, email customerservice@cuisinart.com or call 877-339-2534, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., Eastern time.
