Is your Ferrari one of the 23,500 recalled because the brakes might stop working?
If you’re rolling about in a Ferrari, before you punch it to feel that rush of peak performance power as you shoot down the street or highway, you should make sure it’s not a Ferrari that might have trouble stopping.
About 23,555 Ferrari’s sold since 2005 have been recalled for a potential braking problem, according to National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration documents.
What’s the problem?
“The brake fluid reservoir cap may not vent properly, creating a vacuum inside the brake fluid reservoir, and resulting in a brake fluid leak that may lead to a partial or total loss of brake function,” the NHTSA explains.
What’s the solution?
“Dealers will replace the brake fluid reservoir cap and update the software to provide a new warning message for low brake fluid, free of charge,” the NHTSA says.
Letters telling owners about the recall are scheduled to go out Sept. 24, 2022. If an owner wishes to be proactive, call Ferrari at 201-816-2668 about recall No. RC 80.
