Here’s why ‘Chocolate Decadent Brownies’ are recalled in Florida and 4 other states
About 1,480 trays of what are labeled as Sienna Chocolate Decadent Brownies have been recalled because they might contain Chocolate Turtle Brownies — and that’s a serious problem for some people, besides just taste.
Dianne’s Fine Desserts pulled the product, distributed by Gordon Food Service, because Chocolate Turtle Brownies have pecans and Chocolate Decadent Brownies don’t. That’s a potentially serious or life-threatening problem for people with tree nut allergies.
“The recall was initiated after a customer complaint with a product containing pecans was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of pecans,” the Dianne’s-written, FDA-poasted recall notice said. “Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the labeling process.”
Gordon Food Service distributed the trays of Chocolate Decadent Brownies as GFS item No. 226240 to stores and wholesalers in Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.
Customers who have a tree nut allergy or might be giving the brownies to people with that food allergy should dump the trays or return them to the store for a full refund.
