Trump’s children will serve as Florida delegates during the Republican convention
Former President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron, was chosen as one of 41 at-large delegates representing Florida at the GOP convention in July.
Barron Trump, who is set to graduate from high school this month according to The New York Times, joins a handful of other members of the Trump family expected to vote for their father to be the party’s presidential candidate.
Barron’s half-brothers Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr. were also chosen, as well as his half-sister Tiffany Trump and her husband, Michael Boulos. Trump Jr.’s fiancé, Kimberly Guilfoyle, is also an at-large delegate.
This year’s Republican National Convention will be held July 15 to 18 in Milwaukee.
The at-large delegates, who have to be Florida residents registered to vote as Republicans, were selected by the roughly 40 people on the Republican Party of Florida’s executive committee, spokesperson Helen Aguirre Ferré said. Another 84 delegates were chosen by party leadership in each congressional district.
Also chosen are key donors and operators in Trump’s orbit, such as:
▪ Former Florida attorney general Pam Bondi, a vocal defender of the former president who was once in charge the pro-Trump super PAC Make America Great Again Action
▪ Billionaire and former Marvel Entertainment chairperson Isaac “Ike” Perlmutter and his wife, Laurie
▪ Sergio Gor, a Trumpworld insider who is reportedly leading a new super PAC supporting the former president
The rest of the list of delegates includes current and former Florida politicians, including Attorney General Ashley Moody, Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson and incoming legislative leaders Sen. Ben Albritton, R-Wauchula, and Rep. Danny Perez, R-Miami.
The list also includes some of the few state lawmakers who endorsed Trump over Gov. Ron DeSantis in the GOP presidential primary this year, including:
▪ Sen. Joe Gruters, R-Sarasota
▪ Sen. Debbie Mayfield, R-Melbourne
▪ Rep. Randy Fine, R-Melbourne Beach
▪ Rep. Mike Beltran, R-Riverview
▪ Sen. Ileana Garcia, R-Miami
▪ Sen. Ana Maria Rodriguez, R-Doral
