‘We are fighting back’: DeSantis, Rubio and Nuñez celebrate GOP election victories

The leadership of the Republican Party of Florida energized its base in Hialeah as primary election results trickled in Tuesday night revealing which Democrat will run against Gov. Ron DeSantis in November.

DeSantis, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio and Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez had one message for GOP voters attending the first stop of their “Keep Florida Free Tour” at the Milander Center for Arts and Entertainment: Republicans in Florida will work harder than ever to help the party take over Congress in November.

“We are going to generate the biggest Republican turnout this state has ever seen,” DeSantis told a cheering crowd

Following chants of “USA! USA!,” DeSantis said running unopposed allowed him to get involved in supporting candidates “who are fighting the machine.” He touted the victories of several allies running for school board seats in Miami-Dade County, such as Monica Colucci and Roberto J. Alonso.

“We want schools to educate kids,” DeSantis said. “We are sick of the indoctrination.”

Nuñez, taking the stage before DeSantis, condemned the presence of Critical Race Theory in Florida schools, though there’s little evidence it is being taught in classrooms.

“We want them to be proud to be Americans; we want them to be patriots,” Nuñez said. “We are not going to allow Critical Race Theory to divide them, and to teach them to hate each other and to hate our country.”

The top brass of the state’s Republican Party also had some words to say about the leadership of the Democratic Party.

Rubio was laser-focused on how, he says, liberals are bringing Marxism to America.

“The Democratic Party has been taken over by radical left-wing lunatics, laptop-liberals and Marxist misfits,” Rubio said.

Nuñez also said DeSantis’ administration fought to make sure businesses could remain open during the COVID-19 pandemic, unlike other states.

“We will make sure that we will never bow down to the altar of the radical left that all it wants is to trample on your freedoms, lock you down and never lift you up,” Nuñez said.

DeSantis said his opponents have been fighting against his agenda of keeping businesses open, kids in school and unvaccinated people employed.

“Don’t take this freedom for granted,” DeSantis said. “We will send a message to the man in the White House that we are fighting back.”
