Who’s giving millions to Byron Donalds’ campaign for Florida governor?
U.S. Rep. Byron Donalds, who leads most polls in the 2026 governor race, raised $22.44 million in the first three months of the year — more than four times the combined total of his five other major rivals.
The Naples Republican pulled in $19.8 million for his Friends of Byron Donalds political committee and $2.64 million for this main campaign account. Fellow GOP candidates Paul Renner, Lt. Gov. Jay Collins and James Fishback, along with Democratic candidates David Jolly and Jerry Demings raised little more than $5 million in total.
Donalds’ major contributors were Philadelphia billionaire Jeff Yass ($2.5 million), the conservative business advocacy group Club for Growth ($2.5 million), the Seminole Tribe of Florida ($1 million) and billionaire casino company owner Steve Wynn ($1 million).
The haul reflects Donalds’ frontrunner status. A survey from GOP pollster Ryan Tyson in late February showed him with 44% support in the Republican primary, with Fishback at 5%, Collins at 4% and Renner at 2%. When respondents were told Donalds was endorsed by President Donald Trump, his support grew to 62%.
But a poll from a Democratic firm shows a tighter general election contest. A survey released Monday by EDGE Communications, a Miami firm founded by Democratic consultant Christian Ulvert, showed Donalds with a slight 41.2% to 40.5% advantage over Jolly, with 18% undecided.
Within the GOP primary, Collins raised the second-most in the quarter with $1.74 million. He also spent nearly $640,000 and has $2.7 million cash on hand as of March 31. Collins also received $245,000 in in-kind donations from the Republican Party of Florida for staffing and travel.
Next was Renner, a former House Speaker from Palm Coast, who brought in $800,000, but spent $1.88 million, including $1.5 million on ads. He has $3.7 million cash on hand as of March 31. And RPOF contributed $302,000 worth of staffing through in-kind donations.
Investor James Fishback raised $276,000 in the quarter, raising his overall total to $295,000. He also spent $255,000 and has $27,000 on hand.
In the Democratic primary, Jolly, a former U.S. Representative who served as a Republican before splitting with the party over the rise of Trump, raised $1.92 million. He’s pulled in nearly $5 million since starting his campaign last year and has about $1.9 million cash on hand.
Jolly’s primary opponent, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings, raised $329,000 in the first quarter and has $450,000 on hand.
