President Donald Trump’s administration began laying off federal workers Friday amid the federal government shutdown.

Job cuts are occurring in the departments of Homeland Security, Education, Treasury, Energy, Housing and Urban Development and Health and Human Services, according to news reports. Layoffs also might be coming in the Commerce Department and the Environmental Protection Agency.
