You thought Kendall traffic was bad? Enter President Trump and a flock of evangelicals
Kendall is usually a traffic nightmare during afternoon rush hour, but with President Donald Trump making a campaign stop at Ministerio Internacional El Rey Jesús, expect even more traffic than you’re used to.
The West Kendall megachurch, which can seat 7,000, will be holding the event at 5 p.m. on Friday. Trump will be heading down from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach after a two-week holiday.
While we don’t know how the President will be getting to the church, Miami Executive Airport is across the street, which may be the easiest way.
If Trump decides to travel by air, daily commuters will be battling the increased traffic from evangelicals, pastors, Republicans and possibly undocumented immigrants trying to get a seat.
This means that from 3 to 5 p.m., using Southwest 120th Street or Southwest 152nd Street will be the safest bet to avoid any traffic the event will be causing.
If Trump travels in his motorcade, expect temporary street closures or blockages throughout Kendall, Interstate 595, the Florida Turnpike or Interstate 95.
The event was announced last month after Christianity Today supported and called for Trump’s removal from office.
Ministerio Internacional El Rey Jesús, or King Jesus International Ministry in English, is believed to be one of the largest Hispanic congregations in the country and draws thousands to its services. It is also the flagship of a chain of 10 affiliated campuses from Chicago to Homestead.
The ministry’s services usually include lengthy sermons, a live band, and often switch between English and Spanish.
