Russia launches major ballistic missile attack on Kyiv
KYIV - Russia launched a major overnight ballistic missile attack on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, with more than two dozen missiles fired at targets in and around the city, Ukraine's air force said early on Sunday.
Mayor Vitali Klitschko said on Telegram that strikes and damage were reported in several districts and that fires had broken out. At least seven people were injured, he said.
Dozens of explosions, including from air defense systems, were heard across the center of the city, according to a reporter at the scene.
Ukraine has been fighting Russia's full-scale invasion for more than four years. Kyiv has repeatedly warned of dwindling stocks of interceptor missiles for its Patriot air defense systems, which are used to defend against ballistic missile attacks.
