Wildlife experts in Kenya had to quickly corral eight buffalo that wandered outside the boundaries of Tsavo East National Park.

In a July 29 Facebook post, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust said the buffalos “found themsleves dangerously close to a primary school.”

Experts said what may seem like “a harmless jaunt actually posed a serious threat to the students and surrounding community” as buffalos are known to be “notoriously unpredictable.”

Ground teams with the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, supported by a crew in a helicopter, helped guide the bufallo back through more than a mile of densely populated areas, according to the post.

All eight animals were returned safely to the park with no incidents to the public, experts said.

Tsavo East National Park covers an area of more than 5,000 square miles and is home to “The Big 5,” which includes lions, leopards, elephants, rhinos, and buffalo, according to the park’s website.
