While speaking about Catherine, William said she continues to do “really well, thanks. And hopefully, she is watching tonight. So cheering me on,” the BBC reported.

Catherine was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer at the start of 2024 and had been undergoing treatments for much of the year.

In September, the princess revealed that she had finished her chemotherapy but still had a long road ahead.

“She’s been amazing this whole year,” William added. “I know she will be really keen to see tonight be a success.”

The Earthshot Prize was launched by William in 2020 and was inspired by President John F. Kennedy’s “Moonshot” challenge in 1962, its official website explained.

The Earthshot Prize was created “to search for and scale the most innovative solutions to the world’s greatest environmental challenges.”

“Our challenge to the world is based on five Earthshots – simple but ambitious and universal goals for 2030 developed in collaboration with leading environmental experts. They are Protect and Restore Nature; Clean our Air; Revive our Oceans; Build a Waste-Free World; and Fix our Climate.”

The five winners of The Earthshot Prize will be “awarded £1 million each to scale their solutions, with all 15 Finalists receiving tailored support from our global alliance of partners.”

In the same interview with reporters, William said he is also doing his part by inspiring the next generation to care about the environment, starting with his three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

“Every family tries to do what they can to sort of help with the environment,” he said, per the BBC. “We go through all the basics of recycling and making sure we minimize water use and turning off lights when we leave the house and stuff like that, and making sure, which is sensible, in what we do around the environment.”

“I think every family has these conversations. You just try to do what you can,” he continued.

He added that while away from his wife and kids, Charlotte, a Taylor Swift fan, made him a friendship bracelet to wear.

“Well, this is a relic, if you like, from a Taylor Swift concert that my daughter decided that she wanted to create a bracelet for,” William explained. “She gave it to me when I came away. So I promised that I’d wear it and try not to lose while I was out here.”
