Australian Football League forward Gary Rohan returned to the field Sept. 16, just one week after requiring emergency surgery.

According to ESPN, Rohan fractured his skull after taking an elbow to the head during a game earlier this month.

The surgery left him with 30 stitches across the entirety of his head, 7News reported.

The images of Rohan practicing with part of his head shaven and stapled together were shared on ESPN’s Instagram account. And sports fans were left stunned.

“Who medically cleared this man,” one person asked in the comments section.

“Nah, go sit down. It’s not that serious, not gonna lie,” another shared.

“Bruh, you doin to much, just take the time off,” the Cincy Bearcat wrote.

“Dancing With the Stars” pro Maksim Chmerkovskiy even responded to the photos saying, “Ill-advised is an understatement. Someone should be answering questions for letting this guy back on the field. Not like he came back to play different sport than the one that resulted in his SKULL being CRACKED!”

Rohan is a husband and father of three.

He shared a message with his fans on Instagram before going into surgery.

“Not the place I had planned to spend my weekend,” he told his followers.

“Scans have confirmed a fractured skull but I am doing well and in the best hands. Now just waiting on surgery. Thank you for all of the messages and well wishes.”
