6-foot python found on child’s bed, basking on electric blanket, Australia video shows

A family in Australia got quite the surprise when they discovered a “massive” snake on their child’s bed.

The boy’s dad walked past the child’s bedroom while he was at school and noticed something a tad unusual — there was a python lying on the bed, according to video posted to Facebook.

The family called the Sunshine Coast Snake Catchers 24/7 team to remove the reptile.

The group posted video of the python and its removal to Facebook early Monday.

In the video, a snake catcher is seen arriving at the family’s home before a woman ushers him through the house to her son’s room. The video pans to the child’s bed, where a long snake is seen lying on the right side of the mattress.

When the snake catcher first lays eyes on the snake — later described as a carpet python — he exclaims, “Look at the size of it! Just sitting on the bed!”

The woman explains that her son had turned on his electric blanket. The snake catcher surmises that the python likely slithered up on the bed to get warm during the cool, rainy weather.

“No wonder he was snuggled up on there,” he said later.

The snake catcher estimates the python to be upwards of 6 feet.

“Definitely not something you expect to see on your bed,” he says in the video, adding that the familymust have “nearly had a heart attack” upon finding it.

As the video concludes, the snake catcher approaches the snake and picks it up off the bed, holding it out in front of him to showcase its size.

He then places the snake in a bag and takes it outside where he releases the python and watches as the “healthy and nice-looking” creature slithers away: “See you later, fella!”
