During a kite festival in Taiwan, a crowd cheered as a team released a giant long-tailed kite into the sky. But seconds later the cheers turned into terrified screams when a 3-year-old girl went flying with it, media outlets report.

A viral video of the Hsinchu International Kite Festival on Aug. 30 shows the girl clinging onto the kite’s tail, violently swinging back and forth in the air with the strong winds. Her torso had become tangled “in one end of the kite,” according to Taiwan News.

The girl suffered “mild” scratches on her neck and face after soaring in the air for about 30 seconds, the outlet reported.

The footage shows people attempting to pull the kite down until eventually it and the girl descend. Volunteers helped bring the girl to safety on the ground.

Secretary-general of the Taiwan-based Asian Kite Forum said the kite was supposed to scatter candy from the sky “for children to catch,” Taiwan News reported.

The event was “called off” shortly after the accident, according to Storyful.
