U.S. Coast Guard rescues seven Haitians at sea
Seven Haitians in a disabled sailing vessel were rescued Monday off the coast of Haiti by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The U.S. Coast Guard was contacted by the Haitian Coast Guard at 3 p.m. after the flimsy boat became disabled and adrift. After deploying from Great Inagua in the Bahamas, a helicopter hoisted the boaters from the sea. They were located about 14 miles west of Anse Rouge, Haiti, at the time.
All of the boaters were safely transferred to Great Inagua.
