Minerva Herrera, the mother of Cuban singer Albita Rodríguez and a star of the island's countryside music in her own right, has died from a heart attack at her Miami home.
Herrera spent her last moments Monday “in the embrace of her daughter, her two granddaughters and close relatives,” stated a message sent by Rodríguez' office to the el Nuevo Herald.
“Mima … My dear Mima … You left today to be with God, leaving an empty space in the heart of all of us who love you,” Albita wrote Tuesday on her Facebook page. “But at the same time we are happy that we had you for so many years, that we enjoyed a wonderful mother and friend like you.”
