This week, Cuba announced it had intercepted a boat packed with heavily-armed men who wanted to topple the island’s government. Four men were killed, including at least one U.S. citizen, and another six were detained.

The news has sent shockwaves throughout Florida, home to the largest Cuban-American community in the United States. Some exiles across the Sunshine State have told the Herald that they knew the men or were related to them.
