Dead man tumbles out of Megabus bathroom

A Philadelphia man was found dead Thursday on a Megabus in State College.

The bus, which was traveling from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh, stopped in State College shortly before 1 p.m.

According to the bus driver, Anthony Savage Sr., a passenger on the bus requested Savage open the restroom door. When Savage opened the door, located in the rear of the bus, the man “fell out.”

“I turned the lock on the outside, I hit the handle down. As soon as I hit the handle down the door busted open and the guy fell out, right at my feet. He still had the syringe in his arm,” Savage said.

The bus also made stops in Harrisburg and Mifflintown.

The man was fine when he boarded the bus in Philadelphia, Savage said.

The man, who will not be identified until his family is notified, is 54 years old and from Philadelphia, according to police.

Patton Township Sgt. Shawn Albright was on the scene and said that detectives do not suspect any “foul play.”

According to Savage, a needle was still in the man’s arm when he opened the bathroom door.

Police say the man was dead when they arrived on the scene, in a parking lot adjacent to the North Atherton Walmart. Albright says emergency medical technicians were prepared to perform CPR but it was already too late.

Megabus did not respond to requests for comment.
