Foreign holdings of US Treasuries rise in April, led by Japan, UK, data shows

NEW YORK - Foreign holdings of U.S. Treasuries rose in April, data from the Treasury Department showed on Thursday, led by gains by the two largest holders of government dent -- Japan and the UK.

Holdings of U.S. Treasuries edged higher to $9.352 trillion in April, up from $9.348 trillion in the previous month. But compared with a year earlier, Treasuries owned by foreigners were up 4%.
