President Donald Trump said Tuesday that he would announce who he was endorsing in the Texas Senate runoff, a week out from the deciding vote.

Current GOP Senator John Cornyn is up against current Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to be the party’s candidate in this November’s midterms, but the president has so far avoided backing any one contender.

“There are those that say whoever I endorse is going to win,” the president told reporters at the White House Tuesday. “I don't know if that's true. Historically that's absolutely true. I just don’t like to say it because I don’t like to brag.”

Whoever wins the runoff will be up against Democratic Party candidate James Talarico.
