Administrative school personnel in two states have been reprimanded regarding social media posts on the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump, officials confirmed Wednesday.

Wisconsin District Distances Itself From Staff Post

In Wisconsin, the Prescott School District acknowledged in a statement to Newsweek that a district staff member had posted about Trump’s attempted assassination on social media after Cole Tomas Allen, 31, of California, allegedly tried to storm the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner late Saturday in Washington.

“We want to be clear that the views expressed in that post are not supported by the district and do not reflect our values,” district officials said in a statement. “We promote positive dialog and condemn violence of any kind.”

Cole Allen, a 31-year-old resident of Torrance, California, was charged with attempt to assassinate the President of the United States and several other counts following a shooting at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner on Saturday.

The statement did not identify the employee, but the district’s director of student services, Sandy Strand, had been identified online on Tuesday in a viral post on X.

“Ugh,” Strand reportedly wrote in the since-deleted post. “They missed again!”

Officials at the public school district confirmed the matter is now being addressed in accordance with board policies.

“Because this is a personnel matter, we cannot share further details,” the statement continued. “However, please know that we take this situation seriously and are responding appropriately. Our focus remains on ensuring a supportive and respectful environment in our schools, and we will continue to prioritize the wellbeing of our students.”

Superintendent James Reif also notified parents and staff in a message. He declined to provide additional details when reached for comment, citing an “ongoing personnel matter.”

Pennsylvania Private School Addresses Similar Post

Officials at a private school in Pennsylvania also confirmed a concerning social media post made by a staffer following Saturday’s attempted assassination.

“We are a community founded on the idea of respect for all people,” staff at Friends’ Central School in Wynnewood told Newsweek in a statement Wednesday. “An employee’s personal social media account contained a message that was counter to our Quaker testimonies of peace, integrity and community. This is a personnel matter and is being addressed.”

School officials again did not identify the employee, but screenshots purportedly made by institutional data manager Frankie Zelnick circulated online Tuesday.

“I hope it happens at the Correspondents’ Dinner tonight,” Zelnick wrote, screenshots show.

“Welp, guess someone else did too,” she wrote in a since-deleted follow-up post.

Zelnick, 41, and Strand, 55, did not return messages seeking additional comment.

Other Educators Face Discipline as Political Fallout Spreads

At least two teachers nationwide, including one in Wisconsin, have faced discipline in connection with social media posts regarding Saturday’s incident.

The Kaukauna Area School District in Wisconsin placed Patrick Meyer, a social studies teacher at Kaukauna High School, on administrative leave in connection with a post referencing presidential assassins.

Meyer’s X account appears to have been deleted. But a screenshot of a post attributed to him has circulated online, saying: “I am not impressed with recent presidential assassins. It’s f****** embarrassing! Booth, Guiteau, Czolgosz, Oswald must all be spinning in their graves! MAGAA (make Americans great assassins again)! Sad!”

BrightPath Bridgetown Child Care Center near Cincinnati also terminated teacher Corinne Baum after she appeared in a social media video reacting to the news of the failed assassination attempt.

In a 20-second TikTok clip shared widely on X, including by the conservative account Libs of TikTok, Baum said: “There’s been a few creators on here saying that like Friday or yesterday could have been the day. And then I wake up to that news, but not THAT news.

Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk, meanwhile, blamed “radicalized liberal” teachers on Wednesday for promoting ideas linked to political violence.

“Anyone who stands in their way is labeled hateful, racist, fascist, and every other trigger word that is grossly dishonest,” Kirk said in a video posted on X on Wednesday. “We want the best for our country; they don’t. This is why Charlie started Turning Point in the first place. He didn’t trust the radicalized liberal teachers, and this past Saturday, it was a schoolteacher-of all people-that attempted to change our history for the worse with bullets.”

Allen, who allegedly tried to storm past Secret Service agents during Saturday’s gala, had been employed by the tutoring company C2 Education as recently as December 2024, when he was honored as “Teacher of the Month” for his work in California.

School officials in both states said the matters are being handled internally under existing policies, though neither district provided a timeline for next steps. Additional details could emerge as the reviews continue.
