Accused stalker used dating app to send strangers to victim’s home, WI police say
A Wisconsin man is accused of stalking a person and using a dating app to send strangers to their home.
Matthew J. Huebschman, 30, is charged with one count of stalking, according to an Oct. 30 Facebook post by the Appleton Police Department.
The charge stems from what police say was a “yearlong pattern of disturbing and intrusive behavior.”
According to police, Huebschman used the dating app Grindr to pose as another person, who police say he was stalking.
He pretended to be the victim, directed the men he met on the dating app to go to the victim’s home and directed them to go inside when they arrived, police said.
For more than a year, numerous men went to the victim’s home, according to police.
“This sustained harassment created a persistent sense of fear and distress for the victim and their household,” police said.
As the men arrived at the home, Huebschman would be nearby watching, which is ultimately what led to his arrest, according to police.
Huebschman was given a cash bond of $10,000 and is due back in court Nov. 7.
Appleton is about a 105-mile drive northwest from Milwaukee.
