Air Force employee kills co-worker, then wife’s body found in trunk, OH cops say
Three Air Force employees are dead in what Ohio officials are describing as a double murder-suicide.
Just after 5 a.m. Oct. 25, Ohio officials responded to a scene at the West Milton Municipal Building, according to a news release from the West Milton Police Division.
The incident that ended at the building started hours before.
Sometime in the evening of Oct. 24 or in the early morning hours of Oct. 25, 34-year-old Jacob E. Prichard killed his wife, 33-year-old Jaymee M. Prichard, according to police.
Around 2 a.m., Jacob Prichard drove to the Sugarcreek Township home of 25-year-old Jamie S. Gustitus, who was a friend and co-worker of Jacob and Jaymee Prichard, according to police.
Jacob Prichard then broke into Gustitus’ home and killed her, police said.
Then, with his wife’s body in his trunk, Jacob Prichard drove to the West Milton Municipal Building at 4:22 a.m., parked the car, opened the trunk then took his own life in the parking lot, according to police.
Authorities said, “he opened the trunk of the car so officers who found him would also find Jaymee Prichard.”
It’s unclear what the relationship between the married couple and Gustitus was other than the fact they all worked at the Wright- Patterson Air Force Base in Greene County.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic event, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones affected. We stand with them as they navigate this unimaginable pain, and we offer our sincerest condolences to all impacted by this heartbreaking loss,” Lt. Gen. Linda Hurry, Deputy Commander, Air Force Materiel Command, said in a news release.
The release confirmed that 1st Lt. Jaime Gustitus worked in 711th Human Performance Wing, part of the Air Force Research Laboratory; Jaymee Prichard worked within the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center; and Jacob Prichard also part of the Air Force Research Laboratory.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation, with help from the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and local law enforcement .
“We are committed to fully investigating this incident and ensuring the families and co-workers of the victims receive the support they need during this difficult time,” Hurry said.
The exact time and location of Jaymee Prichard’s death is unclear.
West Milton is about a 22-mile drive northwest from Dayton.
