An 18-year-old was rescued after Virginia officials say he climbed up a roller coaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg and became stuck.

The man had climbed 100 feet up the Tempesto roller coaster around 9:30 p.m. Oct. 5, a James City County spokesperson told McClatchy News.

Tempesto is a “high-speed launch coaster” that reaches 154 feet in the air.

County officials said the 18-year-old had climbed up the coaster to retrieve his phone.

He got stuck on the coaster’s catwalk, and the James City County Fire Department helped bring him safely back to the ground, officials said.

James City Police officers then arrested the man, who officials said was charged with trespassing.

Busch Gardens Williamsburg encourages guests to not use phones on rides and asks visitors to not enter restricted areas.

“Items must be safely secured in a sealed pocket, waist pack (excluding Pantheon and Tempesto), left in a locker or with a non-rider,” Busch Gardens says on its website.
