Husky chases squirrel right up tree — and gets stuck in perilous spot in Indiana
A pup in Indiana had to learn the hard way that gravity exists after deciding to trust her dog intuition when spying a rodent just minding its own business.
Meet Aurora, a bright-eyed and bushy tailed husky whose fight-or-flight instincts molded into one when she spotted a squirrel in her yard.
“Aurora the husky and our team had quite the adventure on Friday morning. What you are seeing is correct…a husky in a tree!” Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control said in a Sept. 29 Instagram post.
And yes, there are photos and video footage.
“Aurora chased a squirrel up the tree in her backyard and then realized how high up she was and could not get down on her own. Her worried owners attempted to lure her down but quickly realized they needed help. They called the police station who then gave them our number to call for assistance,” animal control said.
Photos in the Instagram post show Aurora just chilling in a rather dangerously high part of the tree, with one featuring her looking down.
“Our dispatch team was quite surprised when they heard a dog was stuck in a tree. That is something we do not hear frequently, if ever. Our Animal Control Officers responded urgently to the call ... Officer (Brian) Taylor (pictured) and (Jodi) Baird to the rescue!” the post read.
“Officer Taylor was able to use his catch pole to gently loop Aurora and guide her slowly down the tree with a lot of words of encouragement. … Aurora was ecstatic to be back safely on the ground in her mom’s arms! “
All’s well that ends well, especially for that squirrel.
