A driver evaded police by going airborne over a raised drawbridge in Washington, authorities said.

Police responded to the driver Sept. 17 at about 12:20 p.m., the Seattle Police Department said in a news release.

Officers tried to stop the vehicle when they saw it had stolen license plates, police said, but the person wouldn’t pull over.

Police said they then spotted the driver stopped in traffic near the University Bridge — as it was lowering — and they tried to make a “high-risk stop.”

“The driver veered into oncoming traffic, broke through a safety gate, and accelerated onto the partially raised bridge,” police said.

The driver went over a gap in the bridge and went airborne, police said.

A video filmed by police shows the moment the driver speeds across the gap.

Police found the vehicle with “severe damage” but have not made an arrest.

The investigation is ongoing.
