A dog with a rough past got a second chance — and now, she “wiggles with excitement.”

The dog, who has the fitting name of Wiggles, is up for adoption in North Carolina.

“After surviving a difficult past that left her with both emotional and physical scars, including injuries suggesting her mouth had once been tied shut, Wiggles is finally free to live the life she deserves,” the Triangle Beagle Rescue of North Carolina wrote Sept. 9 in a Facebook post. “And she is making the most of it, logging more than 50,000 steps a day on her Fi collar.”

Wiggles is thought to have come from a rural shelter before she landed at the Raleigh-area rescue. Although foster parent Kersti Moss doesn’t know more details about the dog’s journey, Wiggles already has become known for her “mischievous” and goofy nature.

“Wiggles got her name the moment she arrived,” rescuers wrote. “She is full of energy, curiosity, and happiness, and her whole body wiggles with excitement wherever she goes.”

Wiggles, believed to be about 2 years old, also enjoys playing and going on walks. But when she’s done being active, she loves to show off her “affectionate” side, according to the rescue and details Moss shared with McClatchy News via email.

The cuddly pup needs a home with a tall fence and an owner who will help her adjust to living indoors. Her ideal home also wouldn’t have young children.

“This playful girl wants to be part of everything,” the rescue wrote. “She is still learning what it means to live in a safe, loving home and brings the enthusiasm of a puppy discovering the world for the first time.”

As of Sept. 12, Wiggles was still in need of a new owner. Details about the animal organization’s adoption process can be found at tribeagles.org.

“Wiggles is looking for someone who is home often, has patience and a sense of humor, and is ready to commit to helping her continue to grow,” rescuers wrote. “She is quirky, joyful, and full of life.”
