A Connecticut woman was arrested after police say her 1-year-old son was found unresponsive in a kiddie pool.

On July 12, police were called on a reportof an unresponsive 1-year-old, according to a news release from the Norwalk Police Department.

When an officer arrived, family members quickly handed him the child, who was “unconscious, limp and not breathing,” police said.

The officer acted quickly, performing life-saving measures, “including turning the child onto his stomach, holding the child at a downward angle, and delivering firm back blows,” according to police.

The child started to vomit water and gasp for air and quickly regained consciousness and started to cry, police said.

The boy was taken to a hospital, where he made a full recovery.

His 26-year-old mother was arrested Aug. 26 and charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor, police said.

Police said they learned the boy and another child were left unattended in a small kiddie pool.

The mother was given a $50,000 bond and is due back in court Sept. 9.
