Dentist used dental wax to hide camera in staff bathroom, MA officials say
A 35-year-old dentist was accused of using dental wax and medical tape to hide a camera in a toilet to record staff, Massachusetts officials said.
In May, a dental assistant at the New England Dental Group found a hidden camera taped to the toilet in the staff bathroom, according to an Aug. 20 news release by Middlesex County prosecutors.
The dental assistant told the dentist, Patrick Tu Huynh, about the camera, and Huynh removed it, vowing he would try to “identify the suspect,” prosecutors said.
On Aug. 14, Marlborough officers were contacted by the dental assistant about the same camera again being found inside the toilet, officials said.
An investigation revealed Huynh hid the camera to record the audio and video of staff in the bathroom, prosecutors said.
McClatchy News reached out to the New England Dental Group for a statement on Aug. 22 and was awaiting a response.
Investigators found footage of different victims and photos of Huynh trying to clean and adjust the camera lens while it was hidden in the bathroom, officials said.
He was arraigned on seven counts of photographing a person in a state of nudity without consent, two counts of unlawful wiretap and destruction of property, officials said.
He was ordered to stay away from the dental practice, to not have contact with the victims and to give up his passport, officials said.
He is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 25, prosecutors said.
Marlborough is about a 30-mile drive west from Boston.
