‘Evil.’ Man turns daughter’s sleepover into night of sex abuse, Georgia cops say

A Georgia man who pled guilty to turning a girls’ sleepover into a horrific night of sexual abuse has been sentenced to life in prison, according to prosecutors.

Christopher Mark Tidmore, 36, was accused of molesting his 15-year-old adopted daughter and her 15-year-old friend at his home in Summerville, the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office reported in an Aug. 12 news release.

“Evil walks among us every day. The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn’t exist — but this case proved otherwise,” District Attorney Clayton M. Fuller said in the release. “This monster stole the innocence of children.”

Tidmore was convicted Aug. 7 after pleading guilty to aggravated sexual battery, aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy, incest, statutory rape “and several counts of sexual exploitation of children,” prosecutors said.

The case was investigated by Det. Josh Strauss of the Summerville Police Department, officials said.

“The case against Tidmore ... came to light when when (his) daughter’s friend disclosed that Tidmore had committed sexual abuse against her while she was having a sleepover with Tidmore’s daughter,” prosecutor’s say.

“When Tidmore was asked whether he had engaged in sexual activity with any minors, Tidmore casually responded: ‘Yeah, with my daughter’.”

A search of Tidmore’s electronic devices revealed he used his cell phone “to record himself committing numerous acts of child molestation against his adopted daughter,” officials said.

“Tidmore’s phone contained multiple images of minors engaged in sexual acts,” prosecutor said.

He was sentenced to life in prison, with no possibility of parole during the first 38 years, officials said.

Summerville is about a 90-mile drive northwest from Atlanta.
