A man accused of groping young girls at an Atlanta-area water park and fleeing on a minibike has been charged, Georgia police say.

Matthew McCamey, 35, was arrested on two counts each of child molestation and kidnapping in the June 20 incident at Spivey Splash Water Park in Jonesboro, Clayton County Police said in a July 23 news release.

Attorney information for McCamey wasn’t immediately available.

“The Clayton County Police Department remains committed to protecting the safety and well-being of our community, especially our children, and will continue working tirelessly to bring justice to victims,” the department said in a statement.

The arrest comes just over a month after McCamey was suspected of inappropriately touching multiple girls in a pool at the splash park, police said. The girls, all younger than 16, were there for summer camp, WSB-TV reported, citing authorities.

McCamey is accused of following the girls around the park and dunking them in the pool, police told the station. He allegedly groped them while underwater, police said.

Security video caught him leaving on a minibike, according to police.

Officers with the department’s C.A.G.E. Unit were patrolling on July 19 in hopes of locating McCamey when they spotted someone riding a minibike that matched the description given to police, authorities said.

Officers stopped the man, later identified as McCamey, and secured a warrant for his arrest, police said.

Additional information wasn’t immediately available.

Jonesboro is about a 20-mile drive south from downtown Atlanta.
