Lottery player accidentally buys extra ticket. Now she has ‘mind-boggling’ secret
A Maryland lottery player bought an extra lottery ticket “by accident” — and it led to her second big win, officials said.
The woman from Frederick County scored the top prize in the $50,000 CASH game, the Maryland Lottery said in a July 21 news release.
“That this could happen to me again, it’s just mind-boggling,” the lucky winner told the Maryland Lottery.
Years ago, the woman won $100,000 on a bingo scratch-off, according to lottery officials.
She told lottery officials she accidentally added a third ticket when she planned to only buy two, and it was that third ticket that won.
Now, the lottery player said she’d try to keep her big win a secret, according to lottery officials.
She bought the winning ticket at a convenience store in Frederick, about a 45-mile drive northwest from Washington, D.C., lottery officials said.
The $50,000 CASH game cost $20 to play, and the odds of winning are 1 in 3.03, according to the game’s web page.
There are 62 prizes left for the game which began in December 2022, according to lottery officials.
