A Kentucky school board chairperson resigned after a local official accused him of calling for violence against members of a political party on social media, according to the board and local news outlets.

A 2018 Facebook comment by now-former Erlanger-Elsmere Board of Education chair Jeffrey Miller caught the attention of State Rep. Steven Doan, WXIX reported.

“Specifically, one of the postings said, ‘I’d be ok with the NRA if, for once, these psychopaths were the victims of mass shootings. Wink, wink, shoot republicans,” Doan told WXIX.

Miller, according to WCPO, made the comment in response to an August 2018 mass shooting at a video game tournament in Jacksonville, Florida.

Miller could not be reached for comment by McClatchy News. He has not immediately responded to other requests for comment by local news outlets.

Doan, a local Republican representative, called for Miller’s resignation in a June 5 Op-Ed in the Cincinnati Enquirer.

“Miller must apologize and resign to restore trust in the Erlanger-Elsmere Independent School District, and the board should focus on improving academic outcomes rather than tolerating divisive and criminal behavior,” Doan wrote.

Miller’s resignation as a board member and chairperson was accepted during the July 10 board meeting, according to meeting minutes.

The Erlanger-Elsmere area is about a 90-mile drive northeast from Louisville.
