1,100-pound horse slides into mudhole and gets trapped, Maine rescuers say
A four-hour mission led to the rescue of a trapped 1,100-pound horse, Maine rescuers said.
Crews from multiple agencies and a veterinarian were called after a horse got trapped in a mudhole in Casco, according to a June 22 Facebook post by the Casco Fire and Rescue Department.
The horse named Dancer was with her rider when they slid down an incline and Dancer got stuck in a mudhole, rescuers said.
The crews used an excavator to lift the uninjured Dancer out of the mud, officials said.
After being medically cleared, Dancer was reunited with her family and sent home by horse trailer, rescuers said.
Casco is about a 60-mile drive southwest from Augusta.
