A 15-year-old shot and killed his mom’s boyfriend after finding “explicit” messages on her phone, Mississippi authorities said.

Le’Andrew Williams pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to 40 years in prison, the Office of Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens shared June 10.

Williams, now 19, is accused of killing Jimmie Lee Pierce Jr. during a May 2022 armed robbery in Jackson, according to WLBT.

“Prior to the shooting, Williams had gone through his mother’s phone and discovered explicit messages between her and the victim, who was in a relationship with Williams’ mother,” the district attorney’s office said in a statement obtained by WAPT.

WAPT reported Williams was mad about the texts and convinced his cousin and his uncle to help him rob Pierce at his apartment complex, authorities said.

According to investigators, Williams used a 9mm handgun to shoot Pierce twice, then the man died at a hospital, WJTV reported.

“He loved everybody. He was always a happy person,” Pierce’s sister, Maya Davis, told WJTV. “He didn’t deserve any of this. I hate it happened like that.”

Pierce’s brother, Anderson Donaldson, added that Pierce was a “hard working man” who enjoyed cooking for others.

Williams was booked in jail on a capital murder charge May 18, 2022, just weeks before his 16th birthday, Hinds County records show.
