A man accused of shooting a wrecker driver as a car was being repossessed remains on the run, Mississippi police said.

Marshun Colbert, of Memphis, Tennessee, is wanted on an aggravated assault charge in the June 8 shooting, according to the Horn Lake Police Department.

Officers said Colbert should be considered “armed and dangerous.”

Gunfire erupted just before 4:45 p.m., and police learned a driver with All Star Recovery was shot as he tried repossessing a car in a shopping center parking lot, the department said.

Investigators said Colbert, 26, and the driver got into a verbal dispute. The argument escalated and Colbert fired a single shot, hitting the driver, according to police.

The driver pulled off, which caused the vehicle to fall from the lift and land on its side in the parking lot, police said.

During the dispute, authorities said a woman got into the repossessed car and was still inside when it toppled from the wrecker. She was treated for her injuries at a hospital and later released, police said.

Authorities did not say who the vehicle belonged to.

The injured wrecker driver drove himself to Baptist Desoto Hospital and was transferred to a hospital in Memphis, where he was “listed in critical but stable condition,” police said.

Authorities didn’t give an update on the driver’s condition as of June 10. McClatchy News reached out to All Star Recovery for more information and was awaiting a response.

Anyone with information on Colbert’s whereabouts is asked to call the Horn Lake Police Department at 662-393-6174.

Horn Lake is about a 20-mile drive south from Memphis, Tennessee.
