Jimmy Kimmel had some exciting news to share with viewers last night — and it came with plenty of jokes.

The 57-year-old late-night talk show host was forced to cancel his Monday night taping of “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on May 19 after taking an entire week off from the show to spend time with family.

He returned to the show on Tuesday, May 20, with an explanation.

“We are back to work after an extra day off,” he said in his opening monologue. “You know, we were supposed to have a show last night, but we didn’t because my daughter had a baby last night.”

Kimmel had previously revealed that his eldest daughter, Katie, 33, whom he shares with his first wife, Gina Maddy, was due with her first child.

The talk show host also shares a 31-year-old son Kevin with Maddy, as well as two younger children — daughter Jane, 10, and son Billy, 8 — with his current wife, Molly McNearney, per People.

“My oldest daughter, she’s 83 years old,” he joked. “Her name is Katie. Katie and her husband Will had a baby girl right at the time we shot our show last night. So I decided to be there instead of here.”

Kimmel confirmed the baby is “very healthy” before joking about the little one’s name.

“They gave her a very cute name. Her name is Melania… Melania Thee Stallion,” he said in reference to Melania Trump and Megan Thee Stallion before revealing the baby’s real name, Patti.

“Like the melt, but with an ‘I’ not a ‘Y,’” he continued.

Kimmel also joked that his beloved sidekick Guillermo made “such a great doula” for Katherine.

“You were reassuring. You were calm. Your hands were soft. You were perfect,” Kimmel said to Guillermo, who played along with the joke.

Kimmel then played a clip of him in the hospital as he shared the news with his Aunt Chippy, who he says has a history of having “strong opinions” about the baby names his family picks.

Instead of revealing the baby’s actual name, Patti Joann, Kimmel made a few changes to keep Chippy “on her toes.”

“I didn’t name her, but you’re going to like the name because Katie decided to honor my mother,” he says on the phone, referring to his mother, Joann.

“It’s kind of a combination name of my mother’s first name and Mama,” he teases. “She named the baby Joannmama Kevin Logston.”

Chippy, who knew right away that her nephew was joking, told Kimmel that she would “come back and haunt (him)” when she dies.

In typical Kimmel fashion, he kept the joke going and said his daughter actually named the baby Brangelina.

“Oh my God, put your mother on the phone,” Chippy quipped.

As his monologue continued, Kimmel opened up about what being a grandfather means to him.

“You know, I’ve been thinking about it. It’s a big responsibility to be a grandfather. You have to…” he said as he struggled to think of anything important a grandfather does.

“I think you have to, you know, WD-40… You have to teach them about that,” he said.

He then recalled some of the unique things his own grandfathers taught him growing up, like using a hideaway light to drive in traffic and making the bottom of his denture “shoot out like a cash register.”

He also recalled his Grandpa Sal repainting the microwave when it got rusty, bowling overhand and wearing his wife’s dentures for the rest of his life after she died.

“So I have to figure out something weird to teach my grandkids,” he joked.
