A beloved coyote who was often spotted on her favorite boulder at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum has died at age 15.

Pogo was humanely euthanized after experiencing a rapid health decline, museum officials said in a May 14 post on Facebook.

Pogo lived at the Tucson museum – which is also a zoo, garden, art gallery and aquarium – for more than a decade, museum officials said.

As a pup, she was “bouncy” and “full of energy,” with a love for playing with sticks, according to museum officials. In her later years, “she claimed a large boulder as her favorite spot,” museum officials said.

Photos shared with the Facebook post show her sitting, standing and even napping from atop a boulder.

The photogenic coyote caught the eye of many photographers over the years, “and has even been featured on tourism guides and in countless articles,” according to museum officials.

In Facebook comments, people shared their own photos of Pogo, along with remembrances and condolences.

“Always (a) great time seeing Pogo up on her rock!” someone wrote.

“Beautiful, stunning creature who lived such a good life at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Thank you for taking such good care of Pogo! She will be missed,” another person wrote.

Another person chimed in, “Oh sweet Pogo, it was lovely to make your acquaintance. I loved our visits and spending time breathing in the Arizona sky next to you,” adding, “Godspeed, sweet girl.”
