Shooting outside Amazon warehouse kills former employee, Louisiana cops say
A 21-year-old was shot dead during a fight with a former co-worker outside of an Amazon warehouse in Louisiana, police said.
Workers inside the fulfillment center were evacuated after gunshots rang out at about 11:20 p.m. Monday, April 28, the Baton Rouge Police Department told WAFB.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Daylon Anthony fatally wounded, according to an April 29 news release that said Anthony had worked at the facility until December.
Anthony and the suspected shooter, later identified as 18-year-old Karl Nash, were in an argument outside of the main entrance of the warehouse when the shooting happened, police said.
Nash fled the scene before police arrived but turned himself in April 30, according to an updated news release. He was arrested on charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon, police said.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
“We’re saddened by this senseless act of violence and are focused on supporting our employees during this time,” Amazon spokesperson Austin Stowe told McClatchy News in an email. “We’re working with Baton Rouge Police in their active investigation.”
