Rescuers responded to reports of the fall at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, the Wilderness Volunteer Fire Department in Mount Lookout said in a news release.

Officials said they found the woman trapped in “rugged terrain” near the Meadow River, a popular spot for climbing and hiking.

“Using a stokes basket and a side-by-side utility vehicle, responders were able to safely transport the patient out of the remote area,” fire officials said.

The injured climber and taken to a hospital in stable condition, according to the release.

“WVFD reminds outdoor recreation enthusiasts to take appropriate safety precautions and always climb with proper equipment and partners,” officials said.
