Estate designed ‘to blend with the river and foothills’ lists near Fresno. See it

An organic estate that was built by an apprentice of one of the most famous names in architecture has landed on the market just outside of Fresno, California, for $2.3 million.

The Sanger home is called the Lapp RiverHouse and not only has it been featured in several magazines, but it’s also won awards for its unique design.

“Experience the harmonious blend of nature and design in the award-winning Lapp RiverHouse, a creation of renowned architect Arthur Dyson,” the listing on SME Real Estate says.

“Situated on the tranquil Kings River, the property provides stunning water views and a peaceful environment, perfect for relaxation and inspiration.”

Dyson has been designing houses in Fresno for over four decades and was the apprentice of the famous Frank Lloyd Wright, whom he worked with on the Marin County Civic Center in 1959, Arthur Dyson Architects said. His work has been featured in HGTV, a press release says.

The owners, Deborah and Greg Lapp, had called Dyson to create the home that was “shaped by the river and terrain,” the release notes.

“Designed to blend with the river and foothills, the home’s organic curves and expansive glass erase the boundary between indoors and outdoors,” the release says.

The two-bedroom, two-bathroom residence is meant to have a calming effect on those who come inside.

“When people enter the house, the first thing they do is sigh; it is a calm and relaxing place. The way the light dances through the house in different ways at different times of the day is inspiring,” the owners said in the release.

One feature of the home that seems to stand out just as much as its design are the windows that let in the harmonious views.

“The floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on the Kings River and the foothills beyond that change with the seasons. When the sun rises over Tivy Mountain to the south and touches the top of the foothills across the river to the north, we stop and watch the sun slide down the hill–we call it ‘the show,’” the owners said.

“The sunset is likewise dramatic, and we sit out on the terrace and watch the colors dip behind the sycamores. Lying in bed, we can see the northern constellations.”

The listing is held by Layla Granata and Nader Assemi.
