Body of woman missing for 8 months found in pond, NC cops say. Boyfriend charged
The remains of a woman who disappeared eight months ago have been found in a North Carolina pond, authorities said.
Three days after the body of Annie Lock was discovered, 26-year-old Tyrique Williams was charged with first-degree murder and concealment of a death, according to the Fayetteville Police Department.
Williams was Annie Lock’s boyfriend, WNCN reported. He was taken into custody in Missouri by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division and awaits extradition to North Carolina, police said.
Lock, 27, was last seen Aug. 17, 2024, but wasn’t officially reported missing until October, according to police.
Lock’s family members were under the impression that Williams had reported her missing, according to WTVD.
On April 13, a body was found in a pond outside Fayetteville, deputies said. It was identified as Annie Lock’s two days later, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
“I wanted her to come home,” her sister, Tanya Lock, told WRAL. “Not like this.”
Her sister told WRAL that Annie Lock was the other half of her heart.
“We lived so close, and how didn’t I know,” Tanya Lock said.
Fayetteville is about a 65-mile drive south from Raleigh.
