Woman refuses to hide neighbor accused in killing, then he kills her, MS cops say

A man accused of fatally shooting another man over a disagreement then killed a woman next door when she refused to hide him, according to Mississippi authorities.

Jarvis Anderson, 36, had an altercation with another man at a home at around 3:30 p.m. April 6, then he fatally shot him, Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said at a news conference broadcast by WLBT.

Anderson went next door to hide from law enforcement, but a woman wouldn’t let him stay there, so he shot and killed her too, according to police.

Wade told WJTV that in his 30 years with the police force, he hadn’t heard of an incident like this. He called Anderson a “coward.”

“I’ve never heard of a situation where you go to the house next door where you just killed someone and take their life because they don’t want to hide you out,” Wade said. “When did we lose our humanity?”

Officers investigating the double homicide recovered two stolen vehicles there as well, according to the chief.

The coroner identified the slain man as 33-year-old Carey Frost Jr. and the woman as Tiffany Johnson, according to WJTV.

Anderson was charged with two counts of murder and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, and he was denied bond during a hearing April 7, WAPT reported.
