Deputy accused of shoving co-worker’s head into wall is fired, GA sheriff says
A Georgia deputy accused of shoving another deputy’s head into a wall during an argument has been fired, according to a sheriff.
Raneisha Price, who had been a deputy at the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office for nearly six years, was arrested March 31 at her home in Augusta in connection with a domestic dispute involving a co-worker, according to a news release.
“We hold those who work for us to the highest standards of conduct, both on and off duty,” Richmond County Sheriff Gino Brantley said in the release. “Our agency offers a variety of support and counseling services to deputies in a proactive manner to prevent incidents like this from occurring. However, when individuals violate the law, we will deal with it accordingly.”
Price said she pushed the other deputy’s face, causing him to hit his head on the corner of a wall, deputies said.
He was taken to the hospital for a half-inch cut on the back of his head from the incident, according to deputies.
She was charged with simple battery, family violence and was taken to the Charles B. Webster Detention Center, the sheriff’s office said.
Price was fired April 1 after previously being placed on unpaid administrative leave, deputies said.
