Powerball players just miss $527 million jackpot — but still win big in Illinois
A Powerball ticket sold in Illinois won a $150,000 prize, just missing the $527 million jackpot, lottery officials say.
The ticket matched four winning numbers, the Powerball and the Power Play in the drawing Saturday, March 29, the Illinois Lottery said.
The ticket was sold at a Hucks gas station in Alton, which is about a 285-mile drive southwest from Chicago.
Two other tickets, sold at a Casey’s General Store in Morton and a Shell gas station in Chicago, matched four winning numbers and the Powerball for $50,000 each.
A ticket sold in California hit the $527 million jackpot. Tickets sold in Georgia, Ohio and Oregon also won $1 million each.
The grand prize now resets to an estimated $20 million, with a cash value of about $9.3 million, for the next drawing Monday, March 31, the national Powerball site said.
The winning numbers were 7, 11, 21, 53 and 61, with a Powerball of 2, the lottery said. The Power Play multiplier was 3x.
More than 925,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $150,000, the lottery said.
The Powerball jackpot was previously last won Jan. 18, when an Oregon player hit the $329 million grand prize, lottery officials said.
